£0.00

Country: SP
Technical: col/scope 109m
Director: Juan Carlos Fresnadillo
Cast: Leonardo Sbaraglia, Eusebio Poncela, Mónica López, Antonio Dechent, Max von Sydow

Synopsis:

An underground society of 'lucky men' gamble with each other to raise their stock, using snapshots of ordinary Joes as chips, the ultimate test being a face-off with Samuel, the so-called luckiest man alive who lives in a casino in the middle of the desert.

Review:

Intriguing, semi-supernatural thriller with much of its persistence in the memory accountable to an extremely controlled mise en scène, standouts being the chase through the forest blindfold and the games of Russian roulette. What we are shown early on is strictly on a need to know basis, and even then it doesn't immediately make much sense, but the theme emerges of luck being very much a transferable commodity, making the scenario at times resemble that of a vampire movie. Another superbly stylish Spanish production.
