Isadora (1968)
Country: GB
Technical: col 138m
Director: Karel Reisz
Cast: Vanessa Redgrave, Jason Robards Jnr, James Fox
Synopsis:
A biopic of Isadora Duncan, whose modern interpretative dances gave audiences pause during the 1920s, especially in view of her predilection for wearing little in the way of undergarments.
Review:
Reisz's film is handsome and well-acted but does not really spend enough time adumbrating what was so fresh and vital about the dance. At least the way it is filmed, in a flashy, Russellian manner, does not convince the viewer of its notability as art.
