A Man Called Otto (2022)

£0.00

Country: US/SV/CAN/EIRE/GB
Technical: col 126m
Director: Marc Forster
Cast: Tom Hanks, Mariana Treviño, Rachel Keller, Truman Hanks

Synopsis:

Grumpy by nature, a man with Asperger's who rules over his close with fanatical precision is suicidal over the death of his wife. However, it takes a new resident, a Mexican soon-to-be mother of three, to draw him out of his shell.

Review:

Competent remake of A Man Called Ove (q.v.), transposing pretty well to the American northwest. Probably as finely done by Hanks and Treviño as it could hope to be, with Forster keeping an eye on the sentimentality; even so it tips into Frank Capra territory more than once (but then perhaps it always did).
