Les malheurs d'Alfred (1971)
Country: FR
Technical: col 98m
Director: Pierre Richard
Cast: Pierre Richard, Annie Duperey, Pierre Mondy
Synopsis:
A depressed architect attempts suicide at the same time as a female TV presenter, and they resolve to give life a second chance.
Review:
The comedian directs himself in this tired and uninspiring comedy in which the number of misses in the laughter stakes more than cancels out a few well-spaced chuckles. Inevitable comparisons with Woody Allen and Laurel and Hardy, with whom the star clearly aligns himself, are anything but favourable. There is one unwittingly funny moment where Pierre Mondy, who plays the host in a kind of It's a Knockout tournament, gets the spiked drink and gives an outstanding impersonation of Stuart Hall.
