Madagascar (2005)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 86m
Director: Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath
Cast: Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen

Synopsis:

Animals at the New York zoo dream of the wild outdoors and, thanks to a bunch of escape artist penguins, manage to commandeer a ship and end up in Madagascar. There, Alex the lion at first poses a threat to the predator-free land of the lemur king, until the latter devises a plan to rid the whole island of meat-eaters.

Review:

It is never too clear how this is achieved, though in any case the movie runs out of invention about two thirds of the way in. However, up to that point it is a brisk and quick-witted family animation, with great jokes and well-drawn characters - in both senses.
