Man-Made Monster (1941)
(The Electric Man)
Country: US
Technical: bw 59m
Director: George Waggner
Cast: Lon Chaney Jnr, Lionel Atwill, Anne Nagel
Synopsis:
A deranged scientist is fascinated by how a bus crash survivor is apparently immune to electrocution, and turns him into an electrically controlled monster.
Review:
A late entry in the Frankenstein-in-all-but-name stakes, this is one of those wonderful bad movies. Soon after the first experiment Chaney gets his worried look (and keeps it for the rest of the film); Atwill hams it up a treat as usual, but these two are nothing compared with the woodenness of the supporting players, including a truly awful 'reporter'. Special effects are doomed to be dismissed with hilarity by the post-Ready Brek generation.
