Country: US
Technical: col 139m
Director: Robert Stevenson
Cast: Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, David Tomlinson, Glynis Johns

Synopsis:

In late Victorian London a banker is too busy to look after his children, so employs a governess to do so. However, her methods are far from orthodox, and she sees to it that she is not needed for long.

Review:

Hugely successful family picture, with great songs and pioneering use of mixed live action and animation sequences. The thought was at the time that it was consolation for Andrews not getting the lead in the film of My Fair Lady, a role she had made her own, but she had the last laugh since she won the Oscar. Pretty soon everyone in Hollywood was planning a musical.
