Men in Black 3 (2012)

£0.00

Country: US/UAE
Technical: col 106m
Director: Barry Sonnenfeld
Cast: Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Emma Thompson, Jemaine Clement

Synopsis:

When the known Universe's most dangerous criminal, Boris the Animal, escapes from his high security lunar prison, he sets about using time travel to undo the heroic act that in 1969 helped avert a future alien invasion of Earth. That act was perpetrated by Agent K, whose life is now in jeopardy, and so Agent J must also make the journey back, and in so doing learn one or two home truths about his close-mouthed partner.

Review:

The series has lost none of its fresh appeal, showing that energy, wackiness, impeccable production values (the time travel jump alone is worth the price of admission), and above all an intelligent engagement with the scientific and cultural touchstones it meets on its career through the generic set pieces, all can still combine to draw laughter, tears and thrills from au audience jaded by more bombastic efforts (the 1.85:1 aspect ratio here speaks volumes about the unassuming nature of these movies). Brolin's turn as the younger K adds a whole new dimension to the character, while assaying a retrospective impersonation of Tommy Lee Jones.
