Metroland (1997)
Country: GB/FR/SP
Technical: col 101m
Director: Philip Saville
Cast: Christian Bale, Lee Ross, Elsa Zylberstein, Emily Watson, John Wood
Synopsis:
A child of the 60s, once would-be photographic artist in a Paris studio, now suburban commuter with wife and child, is looked up by his former 'mate' and led to question his present contentment and re-evaluate his past.
Review:
Both an unmoving evocation of the 70s and a lethargic exploration of the old questions of commitment and independence, this contains some embarrassing scenes depicting our hero's naïvety, and at best boasts a hilarious turn by Rufus, from Delicatessen, as a Paris bartender.
