Michael Clayton (2007)
Country: US
Technical: Technicolor/2.35:1 120m
Director: Tony Gilroy
Cast: George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton, Sydney Pollack
Synopsis:
A trouble-shooter for a law firm is sent to take care of a legal representative who has apparently taken leave of his senses after having for years defended a case against a pharmaceutical company for producing a toxic fertiliser.
Review:
A fashionably byzantine dirty dealings thriller with impeccable credentials. The number of story strands and flashback structure may be too much for those who struggle to keep up with movies these days, but they flesh out the sense of real lives at the centre of a corporate maelstrom, adding substance to the compromised hero and explaining his change of heart. With expert editing and the excellent Clooney at the wheel, the film provides ample proof that there is intelligent life out there in Hollywood still.
