Misery (1990)
Country: US
Technical: col 107m
Director: Rob Reiner
Cast: James Caan, Kathy Bates, Richard Farnsworth
Synopsis:
A bestselling author is rescued from his car by an obsessive fan, who proceeds to hold him captive while he writes the way she wants him to.
Review:
A kidnap thriller with a twist, this novel two-hander has tree-like James Caan at the mercy of little Miss Kathy Bates. Some of the details of his incarceration are hard to watch and out of the author's horror handbook, but Goldman's screenplay imposes some discipline and the film tapped into the readership mentality in the rueful way King intended.
