Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011)

£0.00

Country: US/UAE/CZ
Technical: col/2.35:1 133m
Director: Brad Bird
Cast: Tom Cruise, Paula Patton, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Michael Nyqvist, Léa Seydoux

Synopsis:

Ethan Hunt is sprung from a Russian prison and finds himself almost immediately embroiled in attempts to prevent a rogue Russian agent from appropriating nuclear launch codes.

Review:

Time-passing but increasedly absurd and incredible in its defiance of the laws of physics and international travel, the US version of the 007 franchise takes a step closer with this Cold War-ish thriller. The Dubai sequence is the standout set piece, with an impromptu sandstorm coming on top of a vertiginous climb up the side of the world's tallest building. Whether or not we actually get $135 million worth of entertainment from this shaggy dog story, however, is a moot point.
