Moderato Cantabile (1960)

£0.00

(Seven Days...Seven Nights)

Country: FR/IT
Technical: bw/scope 95m
Director: Peter Brook
Cast: Jeanne Moreau, Jean-Paul Belmondo

Synopsis:

Parents decide whether or not to commit adultery.

Review:

Based on a Marguerite Duras novel, this film has definite links with the 'nouveau roman', its characters more concerned with other people's stories (real or supposed) than their own. It's a gloomy affair, which seems to have been shot entirely through a piece of gauze and is totally unsuited to wide screen. The title refers to the boy's piano lessons and the marking he repeatedly fails to understand. The music is by Diabelli.
