Mohawk (1956)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 80m
Director: Kurt Neumann
Cast: Scott Brady, Rita Gam, Neville Brand, Lori Nelson, Allison Hayes, Mae Clarke, Ted de Corsia

Synopsis:

A free-loving painter living with settlers in Mohawk country is paid a surprise visit by his fiancée from Boston. Not too hot for going back to civilisation, he helps the local chieftain's daughter out of difficulty, but before long must turn his thoughts to more serious matters as an English landowner attempts to stir up war between the people.

Review:

Hawks and sparrows among the early settlers is about the long and short of this slight 'B' western. The colour is muddy and the Iroquois are a multi-racial lot, with much figurative language along the lines of, 'Our dead lie like leaves upon the ground', but it rates a star for its racily witty script and untypical happy ending endorsing intermarriage to keep peace between the foes. More entertaining for its romantic asides than heroics, it nevertheless features a particularly lurid fort invasion with hand to hand fighting and carrying off of womenfolk. The poster made clear that here was a western with sex on its mind!
