Mugabe and the White African (2009)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col 90m
Director: Lucy Bailey, Andrew Thompson
Cast: doc.

Synopsis:

Mike Campbell and his son-in-law Ben Freeth fight a long-running battle to obtain an international court decision against Robert Mugabe's racially discriminatory policy of running white farmers like them off their land.

Review:

A bleak and desultory march through bush confrontations and courtroom evasions, a story we know is surely doomed from the start but for which we fondly hold out the hope that it will be different because of its inspiring uniqueness and the faith of the participants. Not an experience greatly added to by the cinema but a masterful piece of documentary film-making nonetheless.
