The Manitou (1977)
Country: US
Technical: col 104m
Director: William Girdler
Cast: Tony Curtis, Susan Strasberg, Michael Ansara, Stella Stevens
Synopsis:
A woman sprouts a tumour on her neck, which transpires to house the growing foetus of a four hundred year-old Indian spirit. And he's not happy.
Review:
Cheapjack, imitative horror, with risible dialogue and one genuinely funny line: 'Seasoning' (Curtis). Heads fly and bodies explode, and it is all very perfunctory, though Ansara is good as the Native American. Strasberg awakes from a coma just before the end to be a topless deus ex machina; odds are she wished she'd never bothered.
