The McKenzie Break (1970)
Country: GB
Technical: DeLuxe 106m
Director: Lamont Johnson
Cast: Brian Keith, Helmut Griem, Ian Hendry, Jack Watson
Synopsis:
German submariners plan a breakout from a Scottish POW camp during WW2 at the same time as an Intelligence officer is sent to resolve a stand-off between the officers and the commander of the camp. He adopts the risky strategy of allowing the escape in the hope of catching the submarine as well.
Review:
Efficient, single-minded reconstruction of actual events; not much to get excited about, but the documentary approach pays dividends and the leads are charismatic.
