The Master of Ballantrae (1953)
Country: US/GB
Technical: col 89m
Director: William Keighley
Cast: Errol Flynn, Anthony Steel, Roger Livesey, Yvonne Furneaux
Synopsis:
On the return of Bonne Prince Charlie, two brothers deliberately take opposite sides in the dispute in order to preserve the family title.
Review:
A less often filmed Stevenson work, but a decent vehicle for Flynn, who is looking a little care-worn by now. It was Keighley's last film, a decade and a half after Robin Hood, also with Warners, but the standout is Livesey, the true Scot in the enterprise.
