The Mirror Crack'd (1980)
Country: GB
Technical: col 105m
Director: Guy Hamilton
Cast: Angela Lansbury, Geraldine Chaplin, Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, Tony Curtis, Kim Novak
Synopsis:
When a film crew comes to occupy a small English village, Miss Marple is called to investigate the mysterious poisoning of a local woman, and discovers that the intended victim was none other than one of the movie stars present.
Review:
Tired third entry of the four Agatha Christie adaptations produced by EMI ( a fifth, Appointment with Death, followed in 1988 courtesy of Cannon). Once again we have a collection of stars nearing the end of their shelf life (and at least this uncomfortable fact is acknowledged in the screenplay), some of whom overact quite embarrassingly (Miss Novak even manages to get her bosoms to overact). Still, at the beginning of the eighties there was little enough wholesome product available in British cinemas, and this had to do.
