The Mule (2018)

£0.00

Country: US/CAN
Technical: col/2.39:1 116m
Director: Clint Eastwood
Cast: Clint Eastwood, Alison Eastwood, Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Andy Garcia, Dianne Wiest

Synopsis:

A Korean war veteran turned florist becomes estranged from his family through neglect, but when his business falls victim to the microchip economy he turns drug mule for a Mexican cartel. Meanwhile a Chicago DEA officer is desperately in need of a high profile bust.

Review:

As he approaches ninety, the star relinquishes any pretensions to badass-dom and enjoys playing a dandy for a change. Impeccably made and leisurely paced as ever, the film privileges character over action, driving home the irreproachable moral that family should also come before work. There are some concessions to family entertainment, with hardened cartel gangsters succumbing to Eastwood's old timer charm, but the sense of a life partly wasted is nevertheless movingly conveyed.
