A Night to Remember (1958)
Country: GB
Technical: bw 123m
Director: Roy Baker
Cast: Kenneth More, Honor Blackman, Michael Goodliffe, David McCallum
Synopsis:
The SS Titanic departs on its maiden voyage and strikes an iceberg off Newfoundland. In spite of proudly declaring itself 'unsinkable', the ship begins taking on water through a significant hull breach, and a Second Officer must supervise the allocation of an inadequate number of lifeboats.
Review:
Still the best piece of drama centred around this particularly well-ploughed field, partly thanks to keeping soap operatics down to a minimum and concentrating on the science and the facts. Having More in charge and keeping the upper lip stiff also helps.
