Play Misty for Me (1971)
Country: US
Technical: col 102m
Director: Clint Eastwood
Cast: Clint Eastwood, Jessica Walter, Don Siegel (in a small part as a bartender)
Synopsis:
A California deejay is hounded by a psychotic woman who is a regular listener to his poetry/mood music show.
Review:
Eastwood's first film as director shows him already to be an assured manipulator of the medium, if not a great director of actors (Siegel delivers the most convincing performance here). There are some tense sequences, one gravely miscalculated musical interlude, and the female stalker is a responsibly handled innovation - which Adrian Lyne would later exploit in Fatal Attraction.
