Le scandale (1967)
(The Champagne Murders)
Country: FR
Technical: col/scope 107m
Director: Claude Chabrol
Cast: Anthony Perkins, Maurice Ronet, Stéphane Audran
Synopsis:
A shareholder in a Champagne house is injured in a violent assault while out with a friend. Turning to drink and becoming increasingly neurotic, he is minded by the same friend, whose wife, the principal stockholder, wants to sell the brand to the Americans.
Review:
The usual chic milieu and an interesting cast, but Chabrol directs with too much of an eye for modish sixties trappings not to give headaches. Audran pleases in a small role.
