Schindler's List (1993)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw/colour 195m
Director: Steven Spielberg
Cast: Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley

Synopsis:

The story of Oskar Schindler, who moved to Krakow intending to make a fortune from free Jewish labour and ended up spending it to rescue a few thousand from the Shoah.

Review:

One or two lapses of judgement do not alter the stunning effect of this extraordinary story of humanity in the midst of inhumanity on an incredible scale. The film was criticised for focusing on the positive at the expense of the overwhelmingly large-scale negative story of the Holocaust, but it does not pull its punches in depicting callous disregard for human life. It's just that, as in The Pianist, one becomes aware that certain characters lead a charmed life after a while.
