Senna (2010)

£0.00

Country: GB/FR
Technical: col 106m
Director: Asif Kapadia
Cast: doc.

Synopsis:

Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna overcomes internal politics to become three times World Champion, but is killed in a hi-tech car.

Review:

Not just a poignant story of a genuinely talented sportsman who died young, but a fascinating inside look at how racing rules, circuit safety and the regulations concerning computer-assisted mechanics could so cruelly and ironically affect one man. The makers have performed a remarkable feat in editing together the wealth of footage at their disposal (astonishing to see even trackside reaction shots to prangs and smashes during qualifiers), and, what with the frequent close-ups of Senna's features, the film all but resembles a genuine piece of narrative cinema.
