She (1935)
Country: US
Technical: bw 89m
Director: Irving Pichel, Lansing G. Holden
Cast: Randolph Scott, Nigel Bruce, Helen Gahagan, Helen Mack
Synopsis:
Told by a dying relative of his long dead ancestor's visit to a fabled city, a man sets out for the Siberian wastes in search of the lost kingdom whose ruler possesses the secret of eternal youth.
Review:
After Kong, Merian C. Cooper turned to this Rider Haggard original, and mustered an impressive production. Unfortunately, Scott is wrong for a dreamer like this - Ronald Colman would have been better - and Gahagan's Ayesha is somewhat lacking in allure.
