Sign of the Pagan (1954)
Country: US
Technical: col/scope 92m
Director: Douglas Sirk
Cast: Jeff Chandler, Jack Palance, Rita Gam, Ludmilla Tchérina
Synopsis:
With Attila on the rampage and the Emperor Theodosius inclined to give up the western empire to save Constantinople, a Roman centurion persuades the princess to help him use the new religion to unite the Empire against the invader.
Review:
Quite a tough call, given that he is but a centurion. This Universal entry in the biblical epic stakes is clearly a Western in disguise, and cast and played accordingly. Which isn't to say it's no fun at all; in fact on that score it's better than The Robe...
