In a comic book 1930s blessed with futuristic technology a flying ace equivalent of International Rescue and a news reporter old flame track down the evil genius behind the devastations inflicted by a plague of machines. They discover a plot to evacuate a Noah's Ark collection of animals by rocket before toasting the Earth with fire.

Review:

A triumph of design and blue screen technology, the film distracts attention from its pseudo-Bond scenario with a jokey script and at least one charmed star turn (Paltrow). The villainous force is posthumously voiced by none other than Sir Laurence Olivier.
