(Mientras duermes)

Country: SP
Technical: col/2.35:1 102m
Director: Jaume Balagueró
Cast: Luis Tosar, Marta Etura, Alberto San Juan

Synopsis:

The concierge of a Barcelona apartment block is a model of discretion and helpfulness on the outside, but secretly manipulates the life of one of the tenants while she sleeps.

Review:

Chillingly effective psychological thriller from the director of [REC], who clearly has a thing for apartment buildings. Unfortunately, for all his skilfully managed visuals and tightly wrought suspense sequences, the film suffers from a lack of clarity and plausibility not helped by a confusing one-week chronology. The extremely capable performance by leading man Tosar even permits identification with the central character, who is a sociopath on a par with Tom Cruise's Vincent in Collateral, but we are told nothing of his motives for so far-fetched a plan of retribution.
