Snow Cake (2006)

£0.00

Country: CAN/GB/NL
Technical: col 112m
Director: Marc Evans
Cast: Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver, Carrie-Anne Moss

Synopsis:

A man just out of prison picks up a teenage hitchhiker, only to see her killed when a lorry hits their vehicle. Distraught for reasons of his own, he visits the mother and finds a near helpless but unmoved autistic with whom he stays until after the funeral, and a loving but free-spirited neighbour. He continues on his journey, more prepared for the world of human relationships than he was.

Review:

A film of quiet, telling moments which gives the Canadian landscape room to breathe and allows plenty of scope for the actors to do their stuff. Its message, that it is important to connect with other people whatever the heavy cost, is nevertheless backed up by an unlikely double coincidence.
