Synopsis:
Passengers on board a flying boat that ditches in the Pacific include a smuggler en route to trial, his spiv informant, a physicist and a drunkard pilot with a chip on his shoulder. They then find that their island is an H-bomb test site hours away from detonation.
Review:
Intricately plotted action drama, which has you waiting nervously for a hurricane crash-land (in the Pacific?) before dealing the nuclear test card at the beginning of Act Three. All the character archetypes are there, from irredeemable skunk to madonna-like hostess, from tart with a heart to alpha male renegade, but they are developed subtly enough to engage (with the exception of Gregson's eleventh hour heroics). Despite the B movie trappings, this is an exciting enough ride with a nail biting finish.
