Spider-Man (2002)
Country: US
Technical: DeLuxe 121m
Director: Sam Raimi
Cast: Tobey Maguire, Willem Dafoe, Kirsten Dunst, Cliff Robertson, Rosemary Harris
Synopsis:
A high school student in love with the girl next door is bitten by a genetically modified spider and develops corresponding powers just in time to challenge the Green Goblin, a weapons researcher who has tested a performance enhancing drug on himself and turned into a schizoid avenging monster.
Review:
New style comic strip action: special effects and mayhem as before but tempered by a touchingly human, at times comedic, tone, as if Peter Parker were a cross between Carrie and Gregory from Gregory's Girl. Nicely played but, in the manner of franchise heralding productions, too long.
