Spider-Man Homecoming (2017)
Country: US
Technical: col/2.39:1 133m
Director: Jon Watts
Cast: Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau
Synopsis:
Salvage crews cleaning up after the Loki-inflicted devastation of NYC gather alien material and commence a black market in hi-tech weaponry. Meanwhile, 15 year-old Peter Parker exploits his gifts and his contacts with Tony Stark Enterprises to wage his own fight against organised crime.
Review:
Spider-man 3.0 gets under way in this featherweight incarnation via the personable, and British, Holland. Part high school movie, part superhero genesis, with our hero finally earning his stripes in time-honoured fashion, by continuing to do exactly what he was supposed not to be doing in the first place, the film outstays its welcome somewhat and does not succeed in obviating the sneaking suspicion that its only raison d'être is to shoehorn the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (He does also appear in Avengers: Civil War, so the die was cast.)
