Spirited Away (2001)

£0.00

Country: JAP
Technical: Technicolor 125m
Director: Hayao Miyazaki
Cast: animated

Synopsis:

A girl travelling to her new home with her parents becomes embroiled in an adventure with the spirit world when Mum and Dad insist on investigating an old abandoned theme park.

Review:

Magical fantasy which, Oz-like, succeeds in creating a whole parallel world with its class structure and geography. The girl wins through thanks to her pluckiness and thought for others, gaining the love of the once hostile world before she leaves it. The animation is perhaps not of the finest but is more than made up for by the imagination at work here, and the film has its fair share of horror and humour.
