Star Trek (2009)

£0.00

Country: US/GER
Technical: col/2.35:1 127m
Director: J. J. Abrams
Cast: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoë Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Eric Bana, Bruce Greenwood, Leonard Nimoy, Ben Cross, Winona Ryder

Synopsis:

A truculent Romulan destroys the starship helmed by Jim Kirk's father, leaving the child an orphan with a self-destructive streak. By the time he has linked up with Spock, McCoy and Scottie, however, it is clear that their antagonist hails from the future, and has visited them with Armageddon technology and vengeance in his heart.

Review:

This franchise reboot for the most part avoids solemnity and is brisk enough to allow one to overlook its far-fetched coincidences. Kirk's arrogance annoys, and background characterisation is strictly comic strip, but the new Spock is a triumph, the romance with Uhura a winner. A crowning touch has Nimoy reprise his signature role one more time, as his future self.
