The Science of Sleep (2006)
Country: FR/IT
Technical: col 106m
Director: Michel Gondry
Cast: Gael García Bernal, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Alain Chabat, Miou-Miou, Emma de Caunes
Synopsis:
Arriving in France from Mexico to take up a post at a calendar publishing firm, Stéphane finds his creative impulses stultified at work at the same time as they are stimulated by his friendship with a sexy new neighbour. Before long his ability to separate waking reality from sleeping dream is so blurred it comes to jeopardize his emotional life.
Review:
Fun-filled, whimsical concoction, a cross between Billy Liar and East-European animation. It doesn't really go anywhere, except to muse ruefully on the importance of relationships in grounding our consciousnesses, but has a lot of fun getting there.
