The Shooting (1966)
Country: US
Technical: col 82m
Director: Monte Hellman
Cast: Warren Oates, Will Hutchins, Jack Nicholson, Millie Perkins
Synopsis:
A vengeful woman employs a couple of unemployed miners and a gunslinger to track the man she wants to kill across the desert.
Review:
This has been called an 'existentialist' western, whatever that was meant to mean. It is full of fashionably inexplicable, or just plain arbitrary, behaviour and incident, which could mean simply that not enough footage was shot to make something coherent. Oates carries on regardless, Perkins looks fine but is insufferable.
