Country: US
Technical: bw 85m
Director: William Dieterle
Cast: Paul Muni, Josephine Hutchinson, Anita Louise

Synopsis:

A chemist under the Second Empire develops a belief in the disease harbouring properties of micro-organisms by observing agricultural practices, but the Paris medical community scoffs in response. Thus begins his long journey towards eradicating child bed disease and transmission of bacteria through milk.

Review:

Efficient biopic with all the expected ingredients (the overcoming of bigoted opposition, the family life, the 'great moments' of empirical proof) but not the great movie Dr Ehrlich's Magic Bullet is, partly because Robinson is the better actor, but also because the science in the rabies case is confused.
