Tais-toi! (2003)

£0.00

(Ruby and Quentin)

Country: FR/IT
Technical: col/scope 87m
Director: Francis Veber
Cast: Gérard Depardieu, Jean Reno, Richard Berry, André Dussollier, Léonor Varela, Michel Aumont, Ticky Holgado

Synopsis:

An incompetent crook with a soft head but a warm heart winds up in a cell with a killer bent on vengeance and a stash of stolen loot. The police hope that the latter will crack and talk but instead they escape together and the self-appointed buddy sticks to the hard man like glue as he sets about meting out rough justice.

Review:

Yes, it's l'Emmerdeur again, and how Veber has the face to keep coming out with this stuff, I don't know. It's all genial enough in a strangely dated way; no one has to try very hard, everyone is pretty resilient to punishment and essentially it bears less relationship with reality than Nikita, say. Given that one of the mainstays of comedy is therefore jettisoned wholesale it is amazing how painlessly one passes the time in the company of these tired old performers going through the motions once again. I guess it's basically just very slick.
