Tears of the Black Tiger (2001)
(Fa Talai Jone)
Country: THAI
Technical: col 101m
Director: Wisit Sasanatieng
Cast: Chartchai Ngamsan, Stella Malucchi, Supakorn Kitsuwon
Synopsis:
A peasant boy falls for the governor's daughter, only to become an outlaw through circumstance and lose her to the Police Captain.
Review:
Pastiche of pastiche, a 'spaghetti eastern' version of Austin Powers, this combination of Peckinpah violence and musical kitsch gets full marks for commitment to purpose. Unfortunately, it is resolutely uninvolving as drama and only intermittently funny.
