The Tourist (2010)

£0.00

Country: US/FR
Technical: col/2.35:1 103m
Director: Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck
Cast: Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Timothy Dalton, Steven Berkoff, Rufus Sewell

Synopsis:

A British Treasury agent who has fallen for her quarry travels to Venice to renew contact with him, hooking up with an innocent American tourist en route to confuse the authorities. Underworld types are also after their pound of flesh.

Review:

Passable light comedy thriller, a throwback to the Audrey Hepburn/Doris Day vehicles of old but curiously anaemic in a more permissive age. All very professionally assembled, with an array of British acting talent as makeweights, but the inconsistencies of the plot are as numerous as Miss Jolie's inexplicable costume changes, and there is little chemistry between an uncommonly passive (and puffy) Depp and a rather more winsome Jolie. A disappointing second feature from this director.
