Thelma & Louise (1991)
Country: US
Technical: col/scope 129m
Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis, Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Brad Pitt
Synopsis:
A pair of best friends decide to cut loose from their lives of drudgery and go on a road trip. However, two girls out to have fun is no straightforward matter in blue collar America.
Review:
Throwing down its gauntlet in the cause of women's right to live it up on their own terms, Scott's film also of course makes sure its cop is no bigot, and the husband isn't such a bad sort really, thus offending no one. Still, this was great mainstream entertainment (and a great date movie), with a strong narrative grip and an artist's eye for American landscapes.
