Country: US
Technical: col 125m
Director: George Sidney
Cast: Gene Kelly, Lana Turner, June Allyson, Frank Morgan, Van Heflin, Vincent Price

Synopsis:

D'Artagnan journeys from Gascony to Paris to join the famous Musketeers and, having passed the test, is instrumental in foiling a plot by Cardinal Richelieu to usurp the power of Louis XIII.

Review:

Without doubt the most ravishing production ever bestowed on Dumas' classic, this MGM adaptation features some spectacular swashbuckling action, terrific costumes and...too much mooning around. Still, if you can accept Kelly's lounge lizard performance as part-payment for his impressive acrobatic skills, then you might just overlook the film's central miscasting.
