The Trial of Christine Keeler (2019-20)
Country: GB
Technical: col/2.00:1 TV Series (6 episodes of 59m)
Director: Andrea Harkin, Leanne Welham
Cast: Sophie Cookson, James Norton, Ellie Bamber, Ben Miles, Emilia Fox
Synopsis:
Models Christine Keeler and Mandy Rice-Davies become acquaintances (and lodgers) of a Harley Street doctor who procures female talent for the nocturnal haunts of members of the establishment.
Review:
Excellent dissection of a tragic episode from the more hypocritical side of the Swinging Sixties, when the security of the nation depended on the lack of discretion of a high ranking politician, and 'innocent parties' paid the highest price. Altogether subtler, and better acted, than Michael Caton-Jones's Scandal (1989).
