Thunder Rock (1942)
Country: GB
Technical: bw 112m
Director: Roy Boulting
Cast: Michael Redgrave, Lilli Palmer, Barbara Mullen, James Mason
Synopsis:
An embittered writer exiles himself to a rocky island manning a lighthouse, where he is first tormented and then inspired by the spirits of the drowned who visit him.
Review:
Presumably intended as an allegory of American non-intervention, though irrelevant as such by the time it came out, this is nevertheless a superbly shot and directed thought-provoker, preachy perhaps, but anchored by a brilliant central performance.
