Twelve Angry Men (1957)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 95m
Director: Sidney Lumet
Cast: Henry Fonda, Lee J. Cobb, Ed Begley, Jack Warden, Martin Balsam, Robert Webber, E. G. Marshall

Synopsis:

A jury in a murder trial is ready to return a guilty verdict but for the doubts of one man among them, who forces them to talk it through until the tables are turned the other way.

Review:

A brilliantly written play which might have seemed contrived and overstated on the big screen, were it not for the subtle contributions of all involved and the superbly sustained atmosphere. Each actor makes the character his own and one notices little tricks of performance on each viewing, besides which Lumet frames them expertly in a cunningly deployed mise en scène.
