Twin Peaks (1990)
Country: US
Technical: col 95m
Director: David Lynch
Cast: Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Ontkean, Mädchen Amick, Piper Laurie
Synopsis:
A small town in Washington state is rocked by the discovery of high school beauty Laura Palmer's naked body washed up in a plastic bag. An FBI detective comes to investigate, and finds a community riven with intrigue of one sort or another.
Review:
The pilot for a TV series that then ran to two and, much later, a third, this was evidently conceived as an extension of the themes present in Blue Velvet, underlined by the same actor's participation. Thus we see an apparently contented town, full of wholesomeness and wealth from the lumber business, shocked by a senseless murder, and gradually Lynch unpeels the layers of deceit and depravity until he unlocks the door to another dimension.
