Unearthly Stranger (1963)
Country: GB
Technical: bw 78m
Director: John Krish
Cast: John Neville, Philip Stone, Gabriella Licudi, Jean Marsh
Synopsis:
A space research institute working on astral telepathy as a means of making contact with other worlds, is itself the target of attacks by an alien intelligence up to similar tricks, as a leading scientist discovers in the person of his very lovely new wife.
Review:
Beginning with a dramatic 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers'-style pursuit through nocturnal London, full of Dutch angles, Independent Artists' mystery thriller quickly settles down into a talk piece, with science-fiction elements as discreetly malign as in a Doctor Who episode of the period. Good to see character actors like Neville and Stone given substantial parts to play, but this is low-budget drive-in material of slightly better than average technical finesse.
